Meet Your InfoSec Team: Allison Webster, Information Security Policy Advocate

Allison Webster, our Information Security Policy Advocate, is one of the newest members of the InfoSec team at WashU. In her role, she supports the Awareness, Behavior, and Culture (ABC) program by collaborating on strategies to raise security awareness and communicating InfoSec policies, standards, and guidelines to the WashU community.

At Washington University, Allison is excited to contribute to building a security-aware culture across all audiences with the ABC team. She is eager to empower individuals in the WashU community to take charge of their digital security and explore the resources provided by the Office of Information Security (OIS) on their website. She values the dedication to information security at the university, stating, “Everyone I’ve met in InfoSec genuinely cares about providing the best resources for our community, both personally and professionally. This holistic approach is particularly impressive in such a large institution.”

Allison is from the St. Louis area and graduated from Maryville University of St. Louis with a bachelor’s degree in Health Science and a minor in Psychology. Her professional background is primarily in sales and marketing, where she has gained valuable experience across various industries, including healthcare and IT. Her interest in InfoSec and security awareness developed during her previous role, where she consulted with companies on their technical training needs, particularly in cybersecurity. This diverse background has led Allison to her current role at WashU as the information security policy advocate.

Outside of work, Allison enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, as well as family and friends. She loves traveling and experiencing different cultures. Allison volunteers with the American Lung Association (ALA) as a member of the St. Louis Emerging Leaders Board. She serves on both the fundraising and mission committees, where she helps raise funds for research and advocates for lung cancer awareness and improved early intervention methods.

Allison encourages everyone to connect with the InfoSec team and utilize the OIS website for valuable resources and updates. Keep an eye out for her articles in the SECURED newsletter for more tips on staying secure!
