Data or information privacy is about how much control a person or organization has over their information being collected, stored, used, or shared with a third party. In the United States, the government has enacted data privacy legislation which is specific to each industry/situation, such as the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA)
