Digital Guardian, the data loss prevention software, has been updated to detect and alert when sensitive information, such as Protected Health Information (PHI) or Personally Identifiable Information (PII), is shared to public websites, including Artificial Intelligence sites such as ChatGPT.
We are tuning Digital Guardian to reduce the number of false alerts and enhance our data loss prevention posture.
If you receive an alert prompt, please perform one of the below actions.
- If you received the prompt in error (you were NOT disclosing sensitive information), please provide an example of the data entered into the site in the box provided and select Continue.
- If you were entering sensitive information, please select Cancel.
By providing sample information, we can adjust the Digital Guardian agent to prompt more accurately.
- If you want to use ChatGPT, we encourage you to try WashU’s secure ChatGPT.
- See the Fully Secure WashU ChatGPT Beta Sandbox Releases Today announcement for more information.
