WashU workstations are carefully designed to have a core set of security applications to protect them from unauthorized access and comply with the HIPAA Security Rule. Equipment not sourced from our IT Depot, and WashU IT equipment with missing or disabled security controls, significantly increases the risk of an incident including ransomware or other loss of important data. Please consult with the IT Depot before ordering any equipment from an outside vendor.
Per Information Security Policy 103 Information Security Device Management, all computers and devices that access university networks, services, systems, and data must have basic security features enabled. To ensure your self-managed computer has all the necessary security applications, contact the IT support group assigned to your area by visiting Help – WashU Information Technology. This is required for all computers on the WashU network and/or handling WashU data.
