Private Information

Private information is provided by an individual for a specific purpose, and the individual reasonably expects it will not be made public (e.g., medical record, telephone number). Additionally, behavioral data derived from a context in which an individual can reasonably expect no observation or recording is taking place is considered private information. Private information is individually identifiable, so PIs should take care to secure private information at all times.
